Sheaffer and Ferrari--a racy duo

Sheaffer, in partnership with Scuderia Ferrari, is introducing the Ferrari Official Licensed Writing Instruments. Comprising four collections, these pens are inspired by the instantly recognizable racing red of a Ferrari auto. The collections include the Ferrari VFM, Ferrari 100 (also includes a black version), Ferrari 300 and Ferrari 500, each with the world-renowned White Dot symbol of Sheaffer's commitment to quality and design. The Ferrari VFM and 500 comes in a ballpoint; the Ferrari 100 and 300 collections include a fountain pen, rollerball and ballpoint; the Ferrari 100 also comes in a ballpoint/pencil set. Each fountain pen has a steel nib. Prices range from $24.95 to $85.

International Opening

The Sheaffer Pen Company is hosting a fundraising gala to benefit the Sheaffer Pen Museum today and tomorrow, September 21 and September 22.

Tim Williams, general manager of Sheaffer Pen, noted that, “Everyone who works at Sheaffer is passionate about the Sheaffer brand and legacy. While building our wonderful brand for the future, we recognize all the achievements of Sheaffer’s glorious past. A central pillar is the long-standing link of Sheaffer with Fort Madison, Iowa and its people – now perfectly captured in the wonderful Sheaffer Pen Museum, which we are so proud to share with our distributors who will be joining us for this event.”

Richard Canella, president of the Sheaffer Pen Museum, noted. “It was important for us to keep the Sheaffer history in Fort Madison as part of its heritage, and to share that with the public. Much of Sheaffer history touches on world history, like Sheaffer® pens used to sign the Japanese peace treaty and the United Nations Charter. We have creatively integrated Sheaffer’s history, art and science in our demonstrations and displays.”

The Sheaffer Pen Museum is a non-profit 501(c)(3) Corporation operated entirely by volunteers. The museum is open to the public Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. Group tours are welcome by special appointment.

Good Times for Sheaffer

Sheaffer has recently begun an advertising campaign on the “Geoffrey-Tron” screen, located above the Toys R’ Us store in New York's Times Square.

“The ads remind consumers that the Sheaffer brand is ‘The Gift that Matters,’ this holiday season,” said Gretchen Dickenson, Brand Manager, Sheaffer Pen. This campaign began November 5, 2010 and will run through January 1, 2011. The images are visible four times each hour, appearing about 5,400 times throughout the holidays, and will achieve approximately 85 million impressions for the brand.

Mini me and thee

Sheaffer just introduced its newest addition to the Prelude line—the Mini Ballpoint. Though it’s not launching until September, here’s a preview of the translucent red with gold-tone trim. The diminutive twist-action pen also comes in brushed chrome plate, black onyx laque with a chased palladium cap, gloss white and rose gold shimmer, all with nickel-plate trim. There’s a black laque that also has gold-tone trim like the red model shown here. The pen is intended to toss in a purse or pocket, since it’s quite a bit smaller than other pens in the Prelude line that we’ve come to know and love. Priced at just $40, I’d certainly find a few reasons to own a couple. The pens take standard Sheaffer refills, by the way, which I think are quite good. The Mini has a three-year limited warranty and comes in a gift box. Note the White Dot.
